Halo, Snow Moon Unfold in the Sky in Final Days of Meteorological Winter
Stargazers and astronomy lovers found themselves in a stunning and magnificent sight after a halo-encircled snow moon emerged in the sky last weekend.
The weather cooperated with the unfolding of the snow moon even if parts of the United States experienced severe weather conditions.
The snow moon is considered a full moon in February. According to Almanac, it is called asnow moon because January and February are known as the heaviest snowfall, especially in the United States.
Meanwhile, the remarkable sight was unusual that unfolded during the emergence of the snow moon. According to AccuWeather, Kentucky and New Jersey communities saw the snow moon with a halo.
Britannica explained that a halo is considered an atmospheric optical phenomenon. It occurs when the sun or moon shines on clouds with ice crystals.
In addition, AccuWeather said that the event was called a 22-degree halo appearing in a thin layer of clouds. The said ring of light could also unfold in the morning, but they are more noticeable and mesmerizing at night.

The report added that the next full moon is expected on March 7, known as Worm Moon.
According to Almanac, the full-worm moon would appear more prominent than the Snow Moon. The report explained that the worm moon does not originate from earthworms but refers to beetle larvae emerging from the bark of trees.
Almanac added that other names associated with worm moon are Eagle Moon, Goose Moon, Crow Comes Back Moon, Sugar Moon, Wind Strong Moon and Sore Eyes Moon.
The March’s Moon is unique to religious people in Christianity, known as Lenten Moon.

This month of February will unveil the most-awaited astronomy events in the sky. The first week of February showed the rare snow moon.
